Building Demolition Fund
Thank you for taking the time to consider contributing to the work here in Hampton, VA. Over the last five years we have been working to renovate our facility and improve the property following the merger of the Hampton and Peninsula congregations. One of our final needs is the removal of an unusable building (see the section below on why it is not practical to renovate the facility) at the front of our property that is an eyesore in our community. With the various hazards posed by the facility and us hosting the American Mission Campaign next year, we really would like to have this building removed.
With the cost of demolition increasing each month, we are seeking to lock in a $90,000 price quote for removal of the building to the foundation and complete asbestos removal. Our current funding for the project ($45,000) totals almost half the needed amount of $90,000. We have faith to provide the contractor with half the cost now and the remaining balance upon completion. For the remaining $45,000 we are calling upon the generous support and prayers of faithful congregations and friends. We anticipate a completion date in the spring (March or April) of 2024. If you can help financially with the balance of $45,000, your tax-deductible gift would be greatly appreciated as a real blessing.
We understand there may be other projects that may require your attention, but all we can do is "ask" and "pray."

Why It Is Not Practical to Renovate 502A Woodland Road
The 10,464 square feet building was built in 1968. It is constructed of mostly brick and steel and has had no upgrades. The following is a list of problems with the front building located at 502 Woodland Rd, Hampton VA, 23669.
- The shingle roof and plywood require replacement ($18,000).
- The TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) flat roof and block caps require replacement ($125,000).
- Broken & Outdated windows require replacement ($31,000).
- Asbestos removal ($18,000).
- Three Heating, Ventilation, and Cooling (HVAC) Systems:
- The Main HVAC system has water entering the duct system from cracks in the foundation. The system would have to be terminated and a new system reconstructed ($100,000).
- The two 10-ton rooftop units are unrepairable and require replacement ($75,000).
- Foundational cracks from tree roots have resulted in water and mildew damage ($75,000).
- Expense to remove trees causing foundation problems ($10,000).
- Install doors, ceilings, tiles, lighting, paint, and flooring throughout the entire building. This includes constructing new restrooms through block walls. The building does not meet ADA standards and requires upgrading ($600,000).
